What Did They Say! Wednesday! A Linky Party!
I love how funny my students are without even realizing it!

This is a story that goes to show how confused students can be about money!
One of my girls was talking about her dads new phone. She said "I want to download Temple Run on it but I cant because its 99 dollars!"
I tried to explain to her that it was 99 cents, but she insisted that since it had the dollar symbol ($0.99) not the cents symbol that it must be dollars!
I dont even know how to begin to explain that concept of decimals and parts of a dollar to my class! She was so adamant that it was 99 dollars I couldnt think of any way to convince her otherwise!
Now... its time to share your cute kids story from this week!

How to Make a Foldable in PowerPoint!
For the last few weeks, the poll has been temperamental, but I hosted it through PollDaddy this week and all of the votes counted! Sorry for the issues the previous weeks!

The poll looks a little different, but its far more stable!!!

Now... for the tutorial!

For next weeks poll, Im going to do something I havent done before... Im going to leave the three remaining options up without adding a new options. Dont worry... I have plenty of ideas to add to the poll and plenty of requests I plan on adding to the poll in the near future, but I really want to blog about one of those options thats been on the poll for a long time! I feel so bad every time someone contacts me that theyve been voting forever on an option that hasnt been picked yet... so its time to appeal to those long-time voters!

Writing Anchor Chart
For those of you who teach Kindergarten or First Grade, I posted this new anchor chart/poster on my TPT store! Ive been trying to think of a kid-friendly way to describe the elements of simple sentence structure to the class, and I think I finally figured it out!
Ill give the anchor chart for free to the first two people to leave me their email address on this blog post!

Favorite Phonics Songs
I have to say, my students just LOVE the phonics songs that are available on YouTube! This year, I incorporated these songs into my daily teaching of sight words, and it has made a major difference! Each time I introduce a new word, we watch the movie for the phonics songs that goes along with it and spend time seeing how the song applies to the word. The students not only remember their current sight words better, but also use these rules to decode new words. Its truly amazing every time I see one of my Kindergarten students sounding out words with super e, ee, ou, oo, ow, and aw! It makes me so proud!
Click the picture below to see my favorite phonics songs in a "Glog." The phonics songs are all embedded into the page, so its perfect for use in your classroom or for linking onto your class website!

Action Cup!
In my previous post about classroom jobs, I mentioned the Action Cup that I use in my class. Many of you were curious about it, so Im writing up a whole post about it!
I use the action cup in so many ways! I have an "Action Cup Helper" as a job. Each time we transition from one activity to the next, or from our carpet seats to our chairs, the action up helper picks a student to choose an action, then the entire class does that action while they move to the next activity
I also use the action cup to work on counting and skip counting daily during morning meeting. The morning helper brings the cup to all of the boys or all of the girls to pick various actions to do while they count aloud.

I start off the year with only a handful of actions in the cup, then add more throughout the year. Every once in a while, I have the class pick new actions to add to the cup. Here are the actions that were in my cup at the end of the year:
