Martin Luther King Jr Interactive E Book for the Smartboard
My students are just loving the interactive e-books that Ive been making lately! The interactive elements really help to keep them engaged with the non-fiction text. And of course, they love reading the books on the smartboard - the large pictures are so much easier to see!

Here are examples of the Smart Notebook pages... one with the informational text, and one with the associated question for that page. When they get the question correct, it cheers for them! They just love it!

Click any of the pictures above to check out the book on Teachers Pay Teachers. Or... be one of the first two people to comment and Ill email it to you for free!

How To Prepare for GATE Examination
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) opens the ways to opportunities in higher education. Today as many Public sector undertakings (PSU) considering GATE score for recruitment, the number of applicants has increased. The recruitment process of PSUs like BHEL, NTPC, IOCL, Powergrid for Executive Trainees and Management Trainees is based on the GATE score of applicant. So getting a good score has become a great challenge to Engineers.
GATE is considered as one of the toughest entrance exams of the country. To excel in the exam, you need to prepare well and your basics of engineering should be very clear. You will be asked many questions on basic concepts of
engineering and innovations.
To get high percentile in GATE one has to prepare thoroughly by understanding the basic concepts of GATE exam.The syllabus of the exam will remain same. Here are some useful tips to prepare for GATE.
The three-hour GATE paper will have a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks. Engineering subjects, where the fundamentals are tested, enjoy 70 per cent weight-age. GATE Engineering subjects Question types would fall into three broad categories – memory, application of knowledge and conceptual understanding. These include two pairs of common data questions and two pairs of linked questions. There is negative marking for wrong answers. General Aptitude plays a significant role in maximizing the score, with as much as 15 per cent weight-age. Engineering mathematics also enjoys a weight-age of 15 per cent in GATE Exam.
I’ll recommend following while preparing for your GATE exams :

- Make your handwritten notes. It takes some time but helps you a lot.
- Always follow standard books to cover your syllabus.
- Whenever you cover any subject, make some summarized notes. it will help while revising the syllabus at exam time.
- Dont cram unusually. Grasp the concepts and fundamentals. Do remember that GATE paper focus on your in depth knowledge of subject, your basics, your concepts etc.
- Prepare for quality questions. It is really important to solve the tricky questions. Rather than solving simple questions and wasting your time, it is better that you spend more time on solving concept based questions.
- Solve previous years papers and mock test papers
- Group study is one of the best ways of preparation. Divide sections/topics between you and your partner and have a brief session on topic from your friend before you actually start topic. This will save your time and efforts and will improve your and your partner’s understanding on the topic.

Dev Team releases Redsn0w 0 9 9b8 for ios5b1
Update #16: redsn0w version 0.9.9b8 will natively recognize the 5.0.1 beta that Apple let developers start testing this week (so you don’t have to play the “point at 5.0 IPSW” trick). Because the IPSW isn’t public, you’ll still need to provide it once to redsn0w (at which point it will cache all the important pieces so you don’t need to select it again).
For those 3GS and i4 users who preserve their baseband, the Mac version can also produce the NO_BB_* custom IPSWs for 5.0.1. (But please note that ultrasn0w doesn’t get updated for betas like this.)
Tethered Boot?
————————————-
* iPhone 3GS (old bootrom)………NO
* iPhone 3GS (new bootrom)……..YES
* iPhone 4 (GSM)………………YES
* iPhone 4 (CDMA)……………..YES
* iPod Touch 3G……………….YES
* iPod Touch 4………………..YES
* iPad 1G…………………….YES
————————————-
Here are the download links:
redsn0w 0.9.9b8 for Mac
redsn0w 0.9.9b8 for Windows
You can jailbreak the newly released iOS 5.0.1 beta right now from the the existing Redsnow for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. So if you haven’t jailbreak already go ahead and jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 by following our guide below.
Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Using Redsnow For iPhone iPad iPod touch
Notes:
- There is no untethered jailbreak available for iOS 5, so likewise this jailbreak is a tethered one.
- iPad 2 can not be jailbroken right now, to jailbreak iPad 2 downgrade to iOS 4.3.3 and jailbreak using JailbreakMe 3.0
- If you rely on unlock do not update to iOS 5.0.1
- There is no jailbreak available for iPhone 4S, wait until further information.
- If you jailbreak you will lose the ability to update via OTA (Over The Air). You will need to plugin you iOS device to your computer and restore to get the ability back
Download iOS 5.0.1 beta
Download iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2
Download Redsnow (This Redsnow is the same as previous one if you already have it no need to download again)
Jailbreak Compatibility (These devices can be jailbroken)
- iPhone 4 (GSM)
- iPhone 4 (CDMA)
- iPhone 3GS
- iPad 1
- iPod touch 3G
- iPod touch 4G
STEP 1. Download Redsnow from the link above
STEP 2: Download iOS 5.0.1 from the link above
STEP 3: Plugin your iPhone iPad iPod touch to your computer via The USB
STEP 4: Start redsnow, click on extras followed by select ipsw ( select iOS 5 NOT iOS 5.0.1)

STEP 5: Now you will need to put your device in DFU mood. Simply go back and select jailbreak, after you have selected that you will be asked to put your device in to DFU mood, simply follow the on screen instructions and Cydia will be installed on your iPhone iPad iPod touch.
STEP 6: As this is a tethered jailbreak you will be required to boot tethered every time you reboot your device (one of the problems of untethered jailbreak)
STEP 7: To boot tethered put iPhone iPad or iPod touch in DFU mood and select extras followed by just boot.

That’s it you are done, you will have a jailbroken iPhone iPad or iPod touch on iOS 5.0.1.
After you have jailbroken your iOS device you can head over to Cydia and install semi tethered jailbreak (can be found under BigBoss repo). As this redsnow jailbreaks tethered only you will need to boot tethered everytime, so what this cydia package does is you can just reboot without the need of putting it into DFU mood, but you will lose some of your abilities. This is just an option, it is not required to install it.

Apple TV 2G Update Released With Support For Purchasing TV Episodes
It seems like earlier today, Apple has quietly pushed out an Apple TV 2G update that now brings support for purchasing TV episodes via the Apple TV itself.
John Gruber from Daring Fireball explains:
I just ran software update on my Apple TV 2 and got a new update that adds support for a major new feature: purchased TV shows. You can buy - not just rent but buy - new episodes directly from your Apple TV, and access and stream any TV show episodes youve previously purchased using your iTunes account.
Previously, it was not possible for you to purchase TV episodes via the Apple TV 2G. Not only this, the update also adds support for Vimeo video content and the YouTube playlist feature. Apart from this, Apple has also added Purchased tab under the TV section in iTunes for both Windows and Mac allowing you to free re-download content that you have already paid for.
This brings the Apple TV 2G iOS version up to iOS 4.3 with a build number of 8F455. Initial reports are suggesting that this Purchased feature is currently available in the U.S. as of now. Earlier today, we also reported that Apple may release 3 HDTVs by March 2012.
