Download Redsn0w 0 9 9b1 Major New Updates Awesome !
MusclNerd of iPhone Dev team has released Redsn0w 0.9.9b1. As we reported you that Redsn0w 0.9.6b1 is loaded with major updates. Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 wont ask you to choose ipsw file when you jailbreak your iPhone, iPod or iPad as it will automatically detect the best solution for you (tethered or untethered jailbreak).
The only case that you will be asked to point to ipsw file is in iOS beta versions as it isnt available for public. Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 will allow you to verfiy / submit your SHSH file to Cydia. Below you will find all new features of Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 officially from iPhone Dev-team blog.

A bunch of new features!Heres how to use Redsn0w 0.9.6b1 :
- uses DFU mode to try to automatically determine which device and FW you have
- fetches pieces of public IPSWs from Apple (once). Non-public IPSWs must be provided manually (once). It then caches those pieces for future use.
- “Just boot” is a tethered boot. Uses whatever “Preferences” you’ve set for boot logo and kernel boot-args
- “Pwned DFU” puts your device in a pwned DFU state for some of the iTunes stuff detailed below
- “Recovery fix” gets past 1015 types of errors (when baseband portion of restore fails). Should work on iOS5 beta too
- “Select IPSW” is for picking non-public IPSWs, or overriding auto-detection
- “SHSH blobs” has a bunch of options…
- “Fetch” - fetch current PARTIAL blobs on device. Should complete in under 10 or 15 seconds. Puts the set of PARTIAL of blobs on your computer as a plist. Checks if Cydia already has a full set for this device and build. If not, it submits this PARTIAL set and returns Cydia’s acknowledgement or rejection
- “Verify” - cryptographically verifies existing blob files from either redsn0w, TinyUmbrella, or Cydia server. You can select a whole bunch of blobs to verify at once if you want (like the TinyUmbrella directory)
- “Submit” - both verifies and submits one or more blob files to Cydia. This lets you copy your entire TinyUmbrella cache of blobs up to the Cydia server
- “Query” - queries the Cydia server for all available FULL or PARTIAL blobs for a given set of ECIDs
- “Stitch” - stitches either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a STOCK or CUSTOM IPSW
- FULL blobs stitched to a STOCK IPSW gives you a completely self-contained signed IPSW that iTunes will accept without any tricks (no need to go into pwned DFU mode, no need to start TinyUmbrella TSS server, no need to redirect to Cydia server for blobs)
- PARTIAL blobs stitched to any IPSW requires you to go into pwned DFU mode before running iTunes. No need to start TU or use Cydia though.
- Stitching either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a CUSTOM IPSW also requires a pwned DFU start before iTunes restores. No need to start TU or use Cydia though.
- Stitching is NOT yet supported on iPhones! Need to work out the baseband part of the restore process.
- Will eventually support fetching the blobs directly from Cydia instead of a file on your computer

Dev Team releases Redsn0w 0 9 9b8 for ios5b1
Update #16: redsn0w version 0.9.9b8 will natively recognize the 5.0.1 beta that Apple let developers start testing this week (so you don’t have to play the “point at 5.0 IPSW” trick). Because the IPSW isn’t public, you’ll still need to provide it once to redsn0w (at which point it will cache all the important pieces so you don’t need to select it again).
For those 3GS and i4 users who preserve their baseband, the Mac version can also produce the NO_BB_* custom IPSWs for 5.0.1. (But please note that ultrasn0w doesn’t get updated for betas like this.)
Tethered Boot?

You can jailbreak the newly released iOS 5.0.1 beta right now from the the existing Redsnow for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. So if you haven’t jailbreak already go ahead and jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 by following our guide below.
Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Using Redsnow For iPhone iPad iPod touch
Notes:
- There is no untethered jailbreak available for iOS 5, so likewise this jailbreak is a tethered one.
- iPad 2 can not be jailbroken right now, to jailbreak iPad 2 downgrade to iOS 4.3.3 and jailbreak using JailbreakMe 3.0
- If you rely on unlock do not update to iOS 5.0.1
- There is no jailbreak available for iPhone 4S, wait until further information.
- If you jailbreak you will lose the ability to update via OTA (Over The Air). You will need to plugin you iOS device to your computer and restore to get the ability back
Download iOS 5.0.1 beta
Download iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2
Download Redsnow (This Redsnow is the same as previous one if you already have it no need to download again)
Jailbreak Compatibility (These devices can be jailbroken)
- iPhone 4 (GSM)
- iPhone 4 (CDMA)
- iPhone 3GS
- iPad 1
- iPod touch 3G
- iPod touch 4G
STEP 1. Download Redsnow from the link above
STEP 2: Download iOS 5.0.1 from the link above
STEP 3: Plugin your iPhone iPad iPod touch to your computer via The USB
STEP 4: Start redsnow, click on extras followed by select ipsw ( select iOS 5 NOT iOS 5.0.1)

STEP 5: Now you will need to put your device in DFU mood. Simply go back and select jailbreak, after you have selected that you will be asked to put your device in to DFU mood, simply follow the on screen instructions and Cydia will be installed on your iPhone iPad iPod touch.
STEP 6: As this is a tethered jailbreak you will be required to boot tethered every time you reboot your device (one of the problems of untethered jailbreak)
STEP 7: To boot tethered put iPhone iPad or iPod touch in DFU mood and select extras followed by just boot.

That’s it you are done, you will have a jailbroken iPhone iPad or iPod touch on iOS 5.0.1.
After you have jailbroken your iOS device you can head over to Cydia and install semi tethered jailbreak (can be found under BigBoss repo). As this redsnow jailbreaks tethered only you will need to boot tethered everytime, so what this cydia package does is you can just reboot without the need of putting it into DFU mood, but you will lose some of your abilities. This is just an option, it is not required to install it.

Redsn0w 0 9 6 Can Jailbreak iOS 4 3 2 But It’s Tethered…

Just a quick heads-up: redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 can jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 if you point it at iOS 4.3.1, but it’s a tethered jailbreak. If you don’t know how to use the tool, check out redsn0w tutorial. NOTE: unlockers DO NOT update.

iPhone Dev Team Released Updated redsn0w 0 9 6 RC14 Fixes iPhone 4 Bug
Earlier today iPhone-Dev team released untethered jailbreak of iOS 4.3.2 in the form of redsn0w 0.9.6 rc13. But it was not valid for iPhone 4 because of some know error. They warned people not to jailbreak their iPhone 4 using redsn0w 0.9.6 rc13. Now they’ve released an updated version of redsn0w 0.9.6 rc14 which will jailbreak all devices including iPhone 4.

In release note iPhone-Dev team said:
redsn0w rc14 includes the fixed i4 untether from @i0n1c. You can re-run redsn0w rc14 right over the tethered rc13b to transform the i4 JB into an untethered one.

Jailbreak iOS 5b5 on iPhone iPod touch iPad with Redsn0w 0 9 8b5
The Dev-Team has already upgraded its Redsn0w 0.9.8b5 to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 5.
As for the previous iOS 5, the jailbreak is possible but it’s tethered, meaning that you have to plugin your iOS device to the computer and boot it in
tethered mode using Redn0w
.
Please note that you’ll not be able to unlock your iPhone using this method. An unlock for iOS 5 is still not possible.
This jailbreak does not work for iPad 2. If you have an iPad 2 jailbroken with JailbreakMe 3.0, stick to it because an untethered jailbreak for iPad 2 will not be available for a while.
This jailbreak will work on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (third and fourth generation) and iPad 1.

Jailbreak iOS 5 On iPhone 4 3GS iPod Touch 4G And iPad 1 Using Redsn0w 0 9 9b5
Phone-Dev team has just released an updated version of redsn0w, redsn0w 0.9.9b5 to jailbreak iOS 5 final version for on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 1. Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 bring a new “Custom IPSW” feature which can be used to create custom IPSW (pre-jailbroken) file, this feature will also preserve your baseband so that your can unlock your device later on.
This new “Custom IPSW” feature works for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS for now but it will be expanded later on. Redsn0w 0.9.9 b5 is currently available for Mac OS only but a Windows version will be released very soon.
Release Notes of Redsn0w 0.9.9b5:With today’s official iOS5 release, redsn0w has been updated to 0.9.9b5 to include the public URLs for the IPSW files. This way, first-time iOS5 jailbreakers don’t need to supply the IPSW file manually. It’s still a tethered jailbreak on all except the old-bootrom iPhone3GS, and it doesn’t apply to iPad2 or the upcoming iPhone4S.Remember: If you rely on unlock DO NOT jailbreak directly using redsn0w, you need to create a custom IPSW and restore it manually in order to preserve baseband. On windows you can use Sn0wbreeze 2.8b8 to create (pre-jailbroken) IPSW file with baseband preserved.
Because the jailbreak is currently only tethered for most devices, we’re not going to release a new PwnageTool yet. Instead, we’ve decided to build some of PwnageTool’s functionality into redsn0w (since you need redsn0w to “Just boot tethered” on every power cycle anyway). The new “Custom IPSW” button on the Extras screen will create a custom IPSW without the baseband update for 4.3.3 or 5.0gm (iPhone3GS and iPhone4 only, for now). Remember to NOT accidentally restore to the stock IPSW after you create the custom one! The custom one begins with NO_BB_ (for “no baseband”). On Mac iTunes, you select an IPSW by holding down the Option key while clicking “Restore”.
You must enter “Pwned DFU” mode before trying to use the NO_BB_ IPSW with iTunes (and your hosts file cannot be pointing to Cydia’s servers due to the new blob nonce mechanism they’re using in iOS5).
Version 0.9.9b5 is available only for Mac for now, until we can do more testing on the Windows version of “Custom IPSW”.
We’re currently working on a normal compatibility update for existing ultrasn0w unlockers. After that we’ll try to fix the iBooks issue on jailbroken iOS5.
How To Jailbreak With Redsn0w 0.9.9b5:
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes.
Step 2: Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down Option and click the Restore button. Restore is preferred as it won’t create any wasted space on your iPhone.
(You can skip this step if iOS 5 is already installed on your device)Step 3: Download (link) and Launch the redsn0w 0.9.9b5 for Mac OS
Step 4: Once RedSn0w opens click the Jailbreak button
Step 5: Plug your iPhone into the computer and make sure its OFF then click the Next button. RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode.
- Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.
- Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.
Your iPhone will now reboot
Step 6: RedSn0w will now prepare the jailbreak data
Step 7: Select Cydia from the list of options and click Next.Your iPhone will now be rebooted again and RedSn0w will begin uploading the new RAM Disk and Kernel.
Step 8: Once this is complete you will be notified that RedSn0w is done. When your iPhone finishes rebooting (5 minutes or so) it will be jailbroken and running iOS 5 final version.Booting In Tethered Mode:
Once you have jailbroken you will need to rerun redsn0w to boot tethered.
Step 1: From the main RedSn0w menu click the Extras button.
Step 2: Select Just boot from the Extras menu to just boot tethered.
And that was it, happy jailbreaking! If you face any problem during this process feel free to ask for any kind of help.

Redsn0w 0 9 8b6 Released To Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 6
Apple has released iOS 5 Beta 6 recently, Now Redsn0w 0.9.8b6 is here to jailbreak the latest Beta of iOS 5.
Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b6 for:

We’ve released redsn0w 0.9.8b6 to jailbreak iOS5 beta6 (point it directly at the beta6 IPSW). Two important notes about this version:Note: This is a tethered jailbreak meaning that you will have to jailbreak your device every time the divece reboots or loses power.
(1) Please let your device boot normally to IOS5b6 and do a clean shutdown (slide to power off) before jailbreaking.
(2) Boot logos have intentionally been disabled for now, so you’ll see a black screen on tethered boots (you can re-enable logos or verbose boot with command-line options if you really want them back). Due increased sensitivity to abrupt filesystem shutdowns in IOS5b6, it’s very important that you do a clean shutdown before running redsn0w.
