PwnageTool is a MAC OSX only jailbreaking tool that jailbreaks your iOS iDevice by creating a custom IPSW (Apple’s Firmware File); once this IPSW is created you must restore it to your iDevice through iTunes

Sn0wBreeze is actually the Windows alternative to the PwnageTool. It functions and operates the exact same way as the PwnageTool – Sn0wBreeze jailbreaks your iOS iDevice by creating a custom IPSW (Apple’s Firmware File); once this IPSW is created you must restore it to your iDevice through iTunes.

RedSn0w (originally named QuickPwn) was re-released during the times of the 2.x.x firmware generation, as one of the first jailbreaking tools to jailbreak the iPod Touch 2G. Maintained and created by the Dev-Team, RedSn0w has become one of the most used jailbreaking tools to jailbreak the iOS firmware.

GreenPois0n jailbreaking tool was first released on October 12th, 2010 and it was one of the first jailbreaking tools to jailbreak the iOS 4.1 firmware. GreenPois0n is a one click jailbreaking tool; meaning that all you need to do to jailbreak your iDevice is click a button.

JailbreakMe is a userland jailbreak. Meaning that all you need to do to jailbreak your iDevice is visit JailbreakMe.com and just like that your iDevice will be Jailbroken. This jailbreak works on all iDevices running up to the iOS 4.3.3 firmware.

iFaith is an SHSH saving tool that dumps SHSH blobs directly on to your iDevice. Dumping your SHSH blobs allows you to downgrade your iDevice’s firmware version to a lower version than you are currently running. This can often times be helpful in case you accidentally update to a firmware version that cannot be jailbroken; as by default Apple does not allow downgrading.

How to Downgrade Your iPhone Firmware Using TinyUmbrella Mac

These are instructions on how to downgrade your iPhone firmware using TinyUmbrella. In order to follow this tutorial you must already have saved your SHSH Blobs for the firmware you want to restore to.


You can use this tutorial to downgrade to iOS 4.3.3 in order to jailbreak using JailbreakMe. The Windows version of this tutorial is here.

Step One
Download and install TinyUmbrella from here if you havent already.

Step Two
Download the firmware you want to restore to from here and save it in a Pwnage folder on your desktop. Remember you must have saved your SHSH Blobs for this firmware already.

Step Three
Launch TinyUmbrella from your Applications folder.

Step Four
Connect your device and make sure it lists saved SHSH Blobs for the firmware you are restoring to. If you dont see any blobs you may need click the Save SHSH button to load them from Cydia.

Step Five
Click the Start TSS Server button.

*Do not continue if TinyUmbrellas TSS server is not started successfully.

Step Six
Launch iTunes by clicking its icon in the dock.

Step Seven
Place your iPhone into DFU mode by holding down the Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds then release the Power button and continue holding the Home button for another 10 seconds.

Step Seven
Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left, hold down the Option key and click Restore.

Step Eight
Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop, select the ipsw file you downloaded and click the Open button.

Step Nine
iTunes will now restore to the lower firmware version.

Step Ten
If you happen to get an Error 1 or you get stuck in recovery mode, you will need to use FixRecovery to get your device out of recovery mode.

Download FixRecovery from here and save it to the Pwnage folder on your desktop. Double click to extract the archive.

Step Eleven
Place your iPhone into DFU mode by holding down the Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds then release the Power button and continue holding the Home button for another 10 seconds.

Step Twelve
Double click to launch the fixrecovery43 executable from the fixrecovery-osx folder we just extracted.

FixRecovery will perform its magic after which your device will be successfully rebooted.

IMPORTANT:
● If fixrecovery does not work the first time you may need to rerestore to your desired firmware version and try again. Remember to keep the TSS Server running during your second restore as well.

● This tutorial does work to get your from iOS 5 beta back down to iOS 4. Although some have reported less issues with a lower version of iTunes this tutorial was tested to work with iTunes 10.5b77.

Download iOS 5 GM ipsw firmware Direct Links

Finally, Apple has just released the very final GM (Gold Master) of iOS 5 for iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, 3G, iPad 2 and iPad 1. As most of you know that iOS 5 is loaded with more than 200 new features and you all few steps away from enjoying these new features.



As with all the developer builds, iOS 5 GM is only available for registered developers only. Precisely, only members enrolled in the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program can access these bits of by signing into iOS Dev Center. But if you are not a developer dont worry, you will find direct download links of iOS 5 GM ipsw files at the end of the post.

What does GM (Gold Master) mean ?

The final beta version of a program that is ready to be released to the public. The entire goal of the beta process is to arrive at the gold master candidate. Once it is tested successfully, it becomes the gold master and is shipped out to be duplicated (if it’s a CD or floppy) and/or uploaded to the Web. The process of creating the gold master is often referred to as “going gold,” or you could say that certain software “went gold” when the golden master was released.
